There is no other town in the district which has had more discussion because of it’s name.
Nar Nar Goon which supposedly translates into “Koala” is only a short drive from the Pakenham township and is on the country Railway line.
Nar Nar Goon has a very small but vibrant community consisting of a small shopping precinct which includes two primary schools and a kindergarten with great reputations a hotel & post office & some small take-away & specialtyshops & a local CFA station.
The local football club is the mainstay for the community & Saturday afternoon home games are a must see.
The Pakenham Racecourse relocation is currently taking place on the Nar Nar Goon – Longwarry Rd between “The Goon” as it is affectionately known & the Tynong Townships.
This project will inject a whole new lease of life into these two townships & is due to be up & running in the next year or so and is tipped to hold an amazing number of race meeting per year.
The property market in the area ranges from large farms & smaller lifestyle properties, houses on 1000m2 blocks and property in the area is very tightly held.
All in all Nar Nar Goon is an extremely attractive place to live and people seem very reluctant to leave.
